Futo Grinders are unique because we CNC machine them solid exotic wood - the teeth are strong because we use thick slabs of the right exotics with the grain running in the direction of the teeth, so they're not just attached or pinned in like the cheap imports - they're integral carved from the solid wood.  We use a thick diamond shaped tooth layout that gets excellent reviews..   Our original 2 piece grinders are held together with strong rare earth magnets.  The wood does well to resist sticky build up, it's finished with an all natural food safe organic beeswax and oil wood finish.  No aluminum dust from wear and grinding, no tight metal connections that can clog, a simple functional design made from all natural wood.  

Wenge is a deep brown and black African wood with a striped or zigzag grain.  It has the right hardness and properties to make an excellent grinder. We've made some thick slabs of it into a limited grinder set.  Tone will vary between pieces, the one in the photo has some white in the base, most are solid dark brown/black.
